Marlin M. “Bud” Yerger
Marlin M. “Bud” Yerger, 85, of Wyomissing, passed away February 16, 2013 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
He was the widower of Margaret “Jeannie” (Thompson) Yerger who passes away in 2005, with whom he celebrated 30 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Earl B. and Frances M. (Riegel) Yerger.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Reading.
Marlin served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He worked 36 years for the Reading Railroad as a yardmaster. Upon his retirement, he was a delivery person for the West Reading Drug store and other local businesses.
Marlin was an avid hunter and golfer. His greatest joys were his cats, flowers, and holiday meals with his family. He also enjoyed getting together with his friends.
He is survived by his sisters, Claire L. Blessing, Gladys M., widow of Carl L. Brown, and Nitzi P., wife of Richard L. Coldren; brother, Dean C., husband of Linda Yerger; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lavona E. Stout.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 11am in Henninger Funeral Home Inc., 229 N. 5th St. Reading, Pa 19601. Interment will follow in Strausstown Union Cemetery, Upper Tulpehocken Township. A viewing will be held Wednesday morning from 10am until the time of service in the funeral home.
