Obituary for Edward L. Ochocki

Edward L. Ochocki, a longtime resident of Laureldale, died on November 24, 2017 at his home in Keystone Villa at Fleetwood after a short illness. He was 92.
Edward was predeceased by his wife Sheila (Swan) Ochocki with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. He was born in Reading, a son of the late Stanley and Mary Ochocki. Edward is survived by son David of Lansdale, daughter Elizabeth (Lisa) Tobin of Spring Township (wife of William Tobin), daughter Cathy Shappell of Ruscombmanor Township (wife of Kenneth P. Shappell Jr.) and daughter-in-law Judy Eisenhower of Montgomeryville. Also, by grandchildren William Eisenhower, Kenneth Shappell, Tyler Shappell and Sarah Ochocki. He was predeceased by foster son W. Randall Eisenhower and ten brothers and sisters.

Edward served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the South Pacific campaign. After the war he returned to Reading and began work with the W.T. Grant Co., where he met his wife Sheila. After the birth of their first child they moved to Laureldale where they raised their family. Edward was employed by the W.T. Grant Co. for 27 years and then by the Baldwin Brass Co. for 14 years, retiring in 1990.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Keystone Villa at Fleetwood and AseraCare Hospice for the kindness and compassion that was shown to Edward during his residency and at the end of his life. Interment at Charles Evans Cemetery is private at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held at the Keystone Villa at Fleetwood, 501 Hoch Road Blandon, PA 19510, on Saturday December 2nd, 2017 from 10 am to noon.
