Condolences

Condolence From: Kindergarten and Mrs. Patch
Condolence: I was a Kindergarten student of Mrs. Patch at Shillington Elementary during the years 1964-1965. The summer before my Kindergarten year, I would watch the children out at recess (living across a small street), and decided to cross the street and look into the Kindergarten windows. Mrs. Patch allowed me to come in and I decided I would stay and continue to "attend". Soon after, my parents and Mrs. Patch met with me. She explained with grace that I had to let the children already in the class work on their studies but that my turn would soon come as my birthday was that summer 8/20. Then she did something magical which stayed with me forever since. She asked me to pick a locker and a sticker. I choose a bluebird. On the first day of school a few months away, there was my locker with the beautiful bluebird on it. She didn't forget me.
What a wonderful year I had in Kindergarten and found I had such a love of school that I went on to teach school as well.
I have never forgotten her and spend time talking to my granddaughter about her Kindergarten year telling my story.
I send my condolences and admiration to your family and want you to know what a beautiful and touching person she was, especially to me!

With sympathy,

Lisa (Struble) Kasmari
