Obituary for Shirley Friedman (Riebman)

Shirley (Riebman) Friedman, Wyomissing and Heritage of Green Hills, former legal secretary for Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., law firms, and manager and sales associate for Reading and Wyomissing firms, died from natural causes.
She was the widow of Gene Friedman. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late David and Esther (Hoffman) Riebman. She was a graduate of Scott High School, Coatesville and Pierce College, Philadelphia.
Shirley worked for several Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., law firms for more than 15 years. She was a former manager of a Reading linen outlet and a sales associate for the former Heather Shop and for Coach Leather in Reading and Wyomissing before retiring until 2008, when she joined Coldwater Creek. She was a secretary for the Sisterhood of Temple Oheb Sholom and its Florence Frank Fund, plus a member of the social committee and election committee of Stone Hill Farms Homeowners Assn., Wyomissing.
Shirley was a cheerful, smiling person who enjoyed being with people, and she served as a greeter with the various outlets she worked for. When other people had trouble finding jobs, Shirley at 83 wasn’t content to sit, so she filled out an application at Coldwater Creek, who hired her as a greeter, sales associate and model. She turned down other jobs, but added one for two Saturdays a month as a greeter for Lane Bryant. She also worked as a volunteer cooking for Oheb Sholom’s food festival. Still not one to sit, she was an avid walker, making two-mile trips through Colony Park or at the nearby mall.
She is survived by two daughters, Ellen A. Friedman, Newark, Delaware, and Carol Friedman Cooper, Olney, Maryland, and twin grandsons, Ben and Aaron Cooper
Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 10th at 11 a.m. at Mt. Sinai Cemetery located on New Holland Avenue, Shillington, PA 19607. The service will be followed by a lunch at Temple Oheb Sholom located at 555 Warwick Dr., Wyomissing, PA 19610.
