Obituary for David P. LeVan

David P. LeVan, 91, of Reading, passed April 17th in Manorcare Health Services, Laureldale.

He was the husband of Selma (Hirsch) LeVan.

Born in Reading, PA he was the son of the late Benjamin and Sophie (Solomon) LeVan.

David was a member of Kesher Zion Synagogue.

He was a graduate of West Reading High School and later served with the U.S. Army. During World War II he was a survivor of a torpedo attack while aboard the USS Silvester earning a Purple Heart Medal.

He was the President of B. LeVan and Son, Inc., West Reading retiring in 1990.

He also was a sports enthusiast and served for a time as a referee for high school and college basketball games.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a son, Barry E. LeVan of Portland, Oregon, 3 nephews and two nieces. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, June and Frances.

A graveside service will be held today, Thursday, April 19th, at 3 PM in Kesher Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
