Obituary for Frederick L. Updegrave

Frederick  L.   Updegrave
Frederick L. “Freddy” Updegrave, 78, of Spring Township, passed away on April 14th 2014 while doing what he loved to do most, beautifying his property.

He was the dedicated husband of Shirley (Bampton) Updegrave for 52 years.

Born in Reading, PA he was the son of the late Jacob and Catherine (Gerhart) Updegrave.

Fred was a retired sheet metal worker and a jack of all trades. There was very little he couldn’t do. Fred belonged to a number of social clubs and had many friends. He loved boating on the Chesapeake and playing poker with friends and family. He was a Mason and Shriner. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David husband of Kay Updegrave, Sinking Spring, daughter, Kathy Lease, Mohnton, grandson, Brandon Updegrave, granddaughter, Tara wife of Todd Kramlich, 2 great granddaughters, sister, Eleanor wife of Richard Zechman, Elizabethtown and many other loving relatives. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Ronald Updegrave.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 27th at 1:00 P.M. at the West Wyomissing Fire Company.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Philadelphia.
