Obituary for Mary Jane Skeen (Thompson)



Mary Jane Seyler Skeen, 99, passed away November 9, at Spruce Manor in West Reading.

She was the widow of Ralph W. Seyler who preceded her in death in 1968, and Richard T. Skeen who preceded her in death in 1993.

Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Franklin A. and Margaret E. (Kephart) Thompson. Mary Jane graduated from Reading High School in 1937. She later worked as a secretary for the Board of Education in Baltimore County. An avid reader her entire life, she volunteered at her local library when she returned to live in Pennsylvania.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra T. Eggers of Bernville PA, and a son, Kim Seyler of Parkton MD. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Deborah Seyler, also known as China Rain.

Services and burial will be private. Henninger Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.​
