Obituary for Virginia M. Stefan (Spatz)

Stefan, Virginia Mary (Spatz)
Virginia “Ginny” passed away February 9, 2019 at the age of 96 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Virginia was predeceased by her husband Joseph and her son Scott. She is survived by son Barry and his wife Donna, four grandchildren Christine, Matthew, Brett, and Stacy; seven great grandchildren Brittaney, Brena, Bryson, Brandon, Chase, Blake ,and Eme; and three great great grandchildren Gilena, Gianna, and Cayden.
Virginia was born in Reading, Pa to Clarence and Mary Spatz (Bossler). She had two brothers Clarence Jr. (Bud) and James and a sister Mary, all predeceased her. She was a graduate of Reading High School .
After high school Virginia took a job with Jacobs Aircraft. During WW2 she enlisted in the navy and was stationed at the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot where she received and decrypted messages from ships in distress; one being the attack on her brother’s ship in the Pacific. After the war she married Joseph and started a family living in Shoemakersville, Pa.
Her family was her most prized achievement in life and enjoyed doing all the things surrounding that life. She loved to cook, bake, sew, garden, and decorate her house and property. To supplement supporting her family she took jobs at the Hamburg Knitting Mill as a knitter, then later as a bank teller at both the Shoemakersville and finally the Hamburg bank from which she retired.
After retirement she took up painting, bowling, dancing, and traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Years after the death of her husband in 2002, she met Robert Bruchart who was a dear companion for her until shortly before his passing. At that time Virginia moved to Florida where she lived with her son Scott and wife Diane until his death in 2015 and then with her son Barry and wife Donna. Ginny will be greatly missed.
Services will be held Friday February 15th at Laureldale Cemetery Chapel at 11 AM. Viewing will be held in the chapel from 10 AM to the time of service. Interment with military honors will follow service. There will be an announcement during the service for a post service gathering of family and friends.
