Girline Carwell, 95, passed away on January 17, 2021. Born in Shiloh, GA she was the daughter of the late Cora Gamble.
After moving to Reading, PA in 1942 she spent her life working in domestic service. She was employed for many years at Mechanics Uniforms and Eng’s Laundry Services. Always strong in her faith and love for God, Girline was also one of the original founders of St. Johns Baptist Church in Reading, PA. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. She was also known for her love of cooking and was always ready for a trip to the casinos.
Girline is survived by two daughters, Barbara Ann Wilcox and Carol Stewart. Her daughter Beatrice Coleman is predeceased. She is also survived by two sons, Eddie Giddens and Larry Carwll Sr.
Nine grandchildren: Charles Coleman Sr., Kenneth Coleman, Stephanie Giddens, Larry Carwll Jr., Scott Coleman, Chama Carwll Sr., Angelique Williams, Nico Carwll, Loren Stewart and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A public viewing will be help Thursday from 10 AM to 11 AM in Henninger Funeral Home, Inc., 229 North 5th St. Reading. The interment will be private for family members only.
