Obituary for Peter Heinly

Peter W. Heinly, 76, of West Chester, formerly of Reading, PA, passed away on December 23, 2021 after a 4 year battle with dementia. Born in Stockport, England on February 2, 1945, he was the son of the late Harry Heinly and Rosalind (Upham) Heinly. Upon coming to America aboard the Queen Elizabeth with his family, Peter attended school in the US and was a graduate of Reading Senior High School in 1963. He was last employed as a Real Estate Agent for The Jerry Buffa Group – Coldwell Banker Realty, retiring in 2019. Peter spent over 30 years of his career in Real Estate. He was an avid bowler, with several 300 games and league championships under his belt. Peter had a love for racing and cars, especially Corvettes. He owned several throughout his life, from his early 20s just until last year. He was a proud member of the Skyline Corvette Club, Reading, PA. He would often be seen at the Duryea Hill Climb and Maple Grove Speedway, secretly hoping his daughter would become the next Shirley Muldowney. Peter was never without an aquarium in his life, even one that was 100 gallons and took up the entire wall. He loved his pet fish. He loved getting together with his family and friends for cards, board games, and bocce ball. Later in life, Peter found a love for ballroom dancing and karate, becoming a devoted student in both. It can’t go without saying that one of his favorite pleasures in life was ice cream, yes ice cream. But, the biggest thing that cannot go without being said is Peter was a proud, beloved and devoted Father. A true “girl Dad” that will be missed tremendously. Aside from his daughter, Peter opened his house and his heart to dozens of foster children over many years, providing them a warm and loving home.
He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Heinly, West Chester, his sister, Carolyn (Heinly), wife of Frank Breidegam, Reading, his nephew, Michael Pupo, and his wife Lori, Fleetwood, his partner Gretchen Dellatorre, West Chester, and his two grand fur babies, Dugg and Oliver. Peter is predeceased by his sister, Rosalind H. Heinly and his niece, Denise Pupo. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Henninger Funeral Home, Reading, PA.
