Obituary for Idet Torres Garcia
Idet Torres Garcia passed away suddenly and called to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2022. She was born on July 8, 1945, in Ponce, PR. Daughter of deceased parents Pedro Belingery and Paula Torres but has lived in Reading, PA for the past 56 years. She is survived by her husband Armando Garcia, her loving daughter, Janet Torres-McMiller, son-in-law James McMiller, grandsons, Eric Mayo and Jaivon McMiller, granddaughters, Naziya and Nadiya McMiller and great grandson, Eric Jr.
Idet retired from St. Joseph’s Villa after working there from December 1991 until August 2007 and was employed at City Hall part-time after her retirement. She volunteered at the Kennedy House in Reading, PA.
Idet loved to dance and party. She was the President of the Puerto Rican Civic Association Comite de Damas in the 70’s. Idet also loved plants and roses, especially red and yellow roses that the day she passed all her roses bloomed.
In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and especially quality time with her grandchildren, Eric, Jaivon, Naziya, Nadiya and great grandson, Eric Jr., who she proudly doted over and spoiled every chance she got.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 7th from 6-8 PM in Henninger Funeral Home, Inc. 229 N. 5th St. Reading, PA 19601. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 8th from 10-11 AM in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery 3139 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale, PA, directly following the funeral service.
