Obituary for Lois Cohen

Lois (Edelstein) Cohen, age 94, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Irvin and is survived by children Helene (the late Pete) Bludman and Richard, grandchildren Evan Schiff (Bonnie Swierczek), Emily (Rand) Stearns, Laurie Bludman, and Ross (Ariel) Cohen, and great-grandchildren Sofia, Jayden, Chelsea, Lyla, and Sasha.
Born in Mars, PA to the late Belle (Fineman) and Harry Edelstein and raised in Squirrel Hill, Lois was an only child who had lifelong treasured relationships with her wonderful Pittsburgh cousins. She was a graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School and Penn State University, where she met the man who would be her husband and soul mate for over 70 years.
Lois and Irv were inseparable, working together at Construction Fasteners, Inc., traveling around the world, and creating wonderful memories over the years in Reading, Long Beach Island, and New York City. Their philanthropy touched many organizations, and they were especially devoted to enriching the lives of children. They spent many weekends at their cherished alma mater, Penn State, enjoying football games and performances by the musical theater students. They were also devoted to Penn State Berks, where both Lois and Irv served on the Advisory Board. Their scholarships made it possible for many students to attain a Penn State education.
Lois was imbued with a natural beauty that lasted her entire life. Her grace, serenity, and positivity were an inspiration to all her knew her. Her smile lit up the room.
