Robert Frederick Becker, 84, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Stonerise Nursing Home and under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle, Martinsburg, WV. Born July 9, 1938, he was the son of Stewart F. Becker and Ruth C. Becker. He had been a member of the First United Church of Christ and later attended the Gerrardstown Presbyterian Church, Gerrardstown, WV. He was a 1957 graduate of Reading High School. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, son Duane and brother Donald as well as his parents. He leaves his grandchildren Shaun Michael Becker and Stephanie Becker Ulrich, his nephew Jeffrey Becker, nieces Wendy Becker Moniz (Paul), Jill Becker Armogida (Mike) and sister-in-law Judith Savage Becker (Donald Becker).
Fred spent his adult life as a salesman, lastly with the Ralph Lahey Co., selling industrial cleaning supplies, for which he won several performance awards. He was a life long weight lifter and won a first place award as Mr. Reading in 1957. He had numerous hobbies such as gardening, birding, golf, photography and playing his harmonica. And he was an avid lover of his pets and regrettably leaves his dog Weston, a corgi mix male behind.
Services will be held at Henninger Funeral Home, 229 N. Fifth St., Reading, PA. A viewing and reception of friends will be from 11 am to noon followed by a brief celebration of Fred’s life and internment at the Charles Evans Cemetery in Reading.
