Obituary for Richard H. Kaufman Sr.

Richard H. Kaufman, Sr., 74, of Birdsboro, passed January 31st in Penn State Health St. Joseph’s.
Born in Reading, PA he was the son of Milton and Betty (Schlenker) Kaufman.
Richard worked many years for Luden’s as a manager in the bakery department, he later retired from Hatfield Meats.
He was proud veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Vietnam War & Persian Gulf War, retiring from service in 2000.
He was an avid train enthusiast and spent time volunteering at the Strasburg Railroad.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Douglassville.
Richard was a loyal Philadelphia Phillies fan and loved music, including the Philadelphia Mummers and string bands. He sang with his church choir & the Greater Berks Encore Chorale.
Richard is survived by his longtime companion, Faye Schadt; daughter, Jennifer Wilk; son, Richard H. Kaufman, Jr.; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Barbara Kaufman, Donna Martin, Karen Humphrey and David Kaufman.
A viewing will be held Wednesday from 10 AM to 12 Noon in Henninger Funeral Home, Reading, with funeral service at 12 Noon.
Interment will be Friday at 11 AM in Berks County Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
Procession will leave funeral home on Friday at 10:15 AM.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Greater Reading Encore Chorale.
