Obituary for Bernard C. Isett

Bernard C. Isett
Bernard C. Isett, 92, of Shillington, passed away April 26, 2011 in the comfort of his home. He was the husband of the late Catherine V. (Moyer) Isett. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Chester Isett and Helen (Smith) Isett. “Pete”, as many knew him, was self-employed as a Heating and Air-Conditioning contractor for most of his working life. Bernard is survived by his four children, Kenneth Killian with wife Barbara of Frystown, May Dziamba of Shillington, June Ehrnfeldt of Shillington, and Deborah Bonanno with husband Joseph Bonanno of Shillington. He is also survived by a brother, Richard Isett of Temple, and two sisters Elaine Lauter of Wyomissing, and Marjorie Morris, of Harrisburg. As a proud family man, Pop-Pop will continue to be loved and adored by 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grand-children, and another on the way. Bernard was a life-time member of the NRA, the Mohnton Fish & Game Club, the Military Vehicle Preservation Association, and the Greater Philadelphia Area Military Vehicle Association. As a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, having served in WWII, Bernard spent many proud years participating in the Reading Airport World War II Days, and many local parades, riding his restored 1942 military Jeep. Those who knew Bernard best, knew that his true passion was spending his retired days in his machine shop continuing a trade he loved. He restored antique Harley and Indian motorcycles, built small engines, and made any tool or part that his customers requested. Life took Bernard in many paths after he earned his apprenticeship from Textile Machine Works in 1940. He was also known for his garden, especially his tomatoes that he raised from seed. But most of all, Bernard Isett was known for his kindness, his moral character, his work ethic, his advice, and his love for life and his family.

Service will be held Saturday at 11 AM in Henninger Funeral Home, Inc. with the Rev. Victor Kroninger officiating.

Viewing will be from 9 AM to time of service.

Interment will be in Christ Yocum’s Cemetery, Shillington.

Contributions may be made to The American Lung Assoc., 3001 Old Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
